Omanis greet profusely on meeting and parting and it would be polite to return the gesture with a friendly remark or a handshake. Although Oman is a muslim country there is no need for women to wear headscarves or veils or dress in floor-Length, long sleeved garments. However respect for local customs is recommended and it is better to dress a little bit more conservatively than you might in your home country.
