Al Buraimi's climate is mainly hot and dry, particularly in the scorching barren interior where summer temperatures can soar to 130°F (54°C). On the coast humidity can be high during the summer months. Milder temperatures and a more temperate climate are found in the southern Dhofar region, which experiences heavy monsoon rains between June and September each year. In general the rest of the country experiences low and irregular rainfall. Within the coastal area of the north, in Muscat, subtropical climate prevails. The summers are very hot with high humidity, in winter during daytime the temperature is very pleasant - around 25°C. During this season, it is also possible for heavy downpours causing sometimes dangerous floodings in the wadis in the city as well as in the mountains.
In central Oman, with its deserts and graval plains, dry climate is dominant. It can reach above 50°C in the summer months while rainfall is rare.
During monsoon swimming is forbidden. In October sunshine returns again, with daytime temperature never rising above 30°C, the seas are calm and the weather is pleasant.
